The capital of the Bahamas, Nassau, is situated on New Providence Island. The island has a population of 180,000, with many homes in gated communities, including some of the most exclusive in the Bahamas like Lyford Cay and Old Fort Bay. The island is located 160 miles from Miami, Florida. One of the main attractions is the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, which is accessible by bridge from Nassau. The area also has many marinas and an excellent golf course. Cable Beach is another popular area for entertainment, and Bay Street is the main shopping area.

There are restaurants and night spots to suit all tastes, and a cosmopolitan atmostphere with an international flavor.
